In short: a bathroom is tough on real plants because of changing humidity and low light, but it is ideal for artificial ones. Moisture does not bother them and light is not needed, so you get a spa feel with no maintenance.
Why an artificial plant in the bathroom?
- Moisture and steam are no problem
- No daylight needed, even in a bathroom without a window
- No water or care, which is especially handy in a wet space
- Stays fresh and green, even as temperatures change
Which plants give a spa feel?
| Feel | Our pick |
|---|---|
| Fresh and green | Fern, green ficus or philodendron |
| Airy and light | Areca or kentia palm |
| Statement by the bath | Strelitzia or banana plant |
Tip
Place a slightly larger plant in a corner near the bath or shower for a hotel or spa feel. Compact plants look good on a bathroom cabinet or shelf.

Frequently asked questions
