Artificial monstera: the plant with the recognisable holes
The Monstera deliciosa is one of the most recognisable houseplants in the world. Its botanical name literally means "monstrous delicious": the first part refers to its enormous leaves, the second to the edible fruit the plant produces in the wild. The monstera belongs to the Araceae family and originally comes from the tropical rainforests of Central America.
In the wild, the monstera climbs up tree trunks to 20 metres. The characteristic holes in the leaves are called fenestrations. Biologists believe they help the leaf capture more light on the shaded forest floor.
The artificial version of the monstera
Our artificial monstera is available from 90 to 150 cm tall. The leaves are made of real touch material with visible veins and natural colour variation. The holes are reproduced exactly as on a mature plant: young monstera leaves have none yet, and they only develop as the plant gets older.
A real monstera indoors grows fast and needs regular pruning. Its aerial roots head off in all directions and the plant can take over a whole corner within a year. Our artificial version keeps its shape. No pruning, no aerial roots on the floor, no yellow leaves from too little light.
The philodendron is a close relative of the monstera. Both belong to the Araceae family. This collection also includes philodendron varieties with their heart-shaped leaves.
Every plant comes with a plastic inner pot. The stems are sturdy and the leaves bendable. Suitable for the living room, the office and rooms without daylight. Free delivery from 50 euros.
This is how it looks in people's homes.
