In short: the Strelitzia is our best-selling artificial plant and comes in three sizes. 150 cm fits beside a sofa, 180 cm is the size chosen most often, and 200 cm fills a corner in a room with a high ceiling.

Why this plant is chosen most often

The Strelitzia, also known as the bird of paradise plant, has large leaves on long stems. That lets it fill a lot of space with few fronds, and it stays convincing up close. The leaves of a real Strelitzia naturally split along the vein, and that is exactly why the artificial version looks so real: those splits belong there and give nothing away.

HeightWhere it fitsNote
150 cmBeside a sofa, in a window sill or in an office next to a deskStays below eye level when you stand
180 cmIn the corner of a normal living room, beside a cabinet or a doorThe size that fits best with a ceiling around 260 cm
200 cmA hallway, stairwell, or a room with a high ceilingNeeds about a metre of width

What real touch means

Our Strelitzias are real touch. The leaf is not printed fabric but a supple material with the structure of a real leaf, including veins and variations in thickness. You feel the difference before you see it, which is why this plant does well in places where people walk close by.

What to look for

  • The number of leaves. A full Strelitzia has leaves at different heights, not all in the same fan.
  • Bendable stems. After unpacking you set each leaf in the right direction. Without a metal core in the stem that is not possible.
  • The underside of the leaf. On a good plant it is lighter and more matt than the top, just like the real thing.

Where to put it

Anywhere, because light does not matter. In practice the Strelitzia looks best against a plain wall so the leaf shape stands out. In an office or waiting area it works well as a room divider, because it is tall and still lets light through. Our prices run between roughly 85 and 110 euros.

Care

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth; the large leaves catch more dust than small-leaved plants. Nothing else: no water, no light, no repotting.

Frequently asked questions

Which Strelitzia size should I choose?
150 cm beside a sofa or at a desk, 180 cm in the corner of a normal living room, 200 cm in a hallway or a room with a high ceiling. 180 cm is the size chosen most often.
What does real touch mean on an artificial plant?
The leaf is not printed fabric but a supple material with the structure of a real leaf, including veins and variations in thickness. You feel the difference before you see it.
Why are there splits in the leaves?
They belong there. The leaves of a real Strelitzia split naturally along the vein. Without those splits the artificial version would actually look unnatural.
Is an artificial Strelitzia suitable for an office?
Yes, it is one of the most chosen plants for offices and waiting areas. It is tall, lets light through and works well as a divider between workstations.
How do I keep a Strelitzia looking good?
Wipe it with a slightly damp cloth. The large leaves catch more dust than small-leaved plants, so once a month is nicer than once a year.
